Sanitation is essential for public health, environmental sustainability, and urban and industrial development. In this context, dosing, pumping, aeration, and filtration processes require high-performance equipment capable of handling aggressive fluids, suspended solids, and continuous operation.
It is in this context that OMEL stands out with robust, efficient solutions designed and engineered in Brazil for the water and wastewater treatment sector.
About OMEL
With more than 74 years of experience, OMEL is a 100% Brazilian company specializing in the design and manufacture of centrifugal pumps, metering pumps, blowers, pinch valves, vacuum pumps, and rotameters.
Its portfolio is designed for critical industrial applications, offering customized solutions, application engineering, genuine spare parts, and specialized technical support.
OMEL is recognized for the reliability and durability of its equipment, as well as for its technological innovation.
The Water and Wastewater Treatment Market

The water and wastewater treatment sector requires solutions capable of ensuring the continuous operation of treatment plants, with energy efficiency, safety, and process precision.
Chemical dosing, pumping of wastewater containing solids, aeration of biological reactors, and flow measurement are critical stages in water treatment plants (WTPs) and wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs).
OMEL meets these requirements with equipment designed to withstand harsh environments, maintain high operational performance, and reduce maintenance costs.
OMEL Equipment for Water and Wastewater Treatment
OMEL offers a range of equipment specifically designed for the different stages of water and wastewater treatment processes.
OMEL Centrifugal Pumps
The bombas centrífugas from the UND series are primarily used for the transfer of chemicals, such as coagulants, alkalizing agents, and oxidizing agents.
Featuring a robust construction, they are manufactured in accordance with ASME and ANSI standards and can handle aggressive fluids with high reliability.
Available in horizontal (left), vertical (center), and self-priming (right) versions, these pumps are ideal for processes that require safety, durability, and easy maintenance.

OMEL Vortex Pumps
The OMEL Vortex pump is specifically designed to handle liquids containing suspended solids and viscous fluids.
Its main distinguishing feature is the recessed impeller (or Vortex impeller), positioned outside the main flow path, providing a clear passage through which particles can pass without causing clogging or premature wear. These pumps are ideal for pumping wastewater with a high concentration of solids.
One of these pumps is shown below:

OMEL Metering Pumps
Metering Pumps are used for the precise injection of chemical reagents during treatment processes.
They provide precise control over the amount of product dosed, minimizing waste and optimizing treatment plant performance.
OMEL manufactures several models of metering pumps. For water and wastewater treatment applications, the DMD diaphragm pumps (left) and DMP piston pumps (right) are particularly well suited.

Both provide precision, robustness, and reliability for treatment plant operations.
OMEL Roots Blower
The Roots blower is a positive displacement lobe compressor designed for low discharge pressure and high-volume flow. It is a robust and versatile piece of equipment used across various industrial sectors in applications requiring a continuous supply of air or gas at low pressure and high volume.
Roots-type blower are essential for the aeration of biological reactors in wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). They provide air at a constant flow rate and pressure to maintain the microbiological activity responsible for decomposing organic matter.
They are also used for filter backwashing in water treatment plants (WTPs).
Our blowers are manufactured in various sizes and models, with or without soundproof enclosures, as shown below:

OMEL Vacuum Pumps
Vacuum pumps, as the name suggests, are equipment designed to generate vacuum (or negative pressure) in various systems.
Although they are not directly involved in pumping water or wastewater, they are essential for ensuring the efficient operation of other equipment and systems. They are ideal for priming large centrifugal pumps, facilitating system startup while reducing the risk of cavitation or dry running, which can lead to mechanical problems.
Their safe and continuous operation makes the process more reliable and less susceptible to failures.
They are manufactured in various sizes, as shown below:

OMEL Pinch Valve or Tubular Diaphragm Valve
Pinch valves consist of a supporting body, an actuation mechanism, and a rubber tube (or sleeve) that gives the valve its name.
Designed for ON-OFF control of wastewater and other liquids containing suspended solids, OMEL pinch valves ensure effective sealing even when handling fluids with a high concentration of suspended particles.
Their tubular design minimizes the risk of clogging and provides greater durability compared to conventional valves. They also offer low pressure drop due to the full and straight flow passage through the sleeve.
Below, we show some of our main pinch valve models: the open-body version (left) and the closed-body version (right).

OMEL Rotameters
Rotameters are instantaneous flow meters that operate based on the movement of a float to indicate the current flow rate.
They are ideal for checking flow rates, particularly in processes that require real-time monitoring. We also supply rotameters for water meter calibration benches, helping ensure measurement accuracy.
Below, we show some of the rotameter models in our product line:
